News about the GP Surgeries Posted or Updated on 19 Jan 2024

The three GP surgeries in Ripon (North House Surgery, Park Street Surgery and Ripon Spa Surgery) have announced that they are planning to merge to form one large practice later this year. This is intended to improve the efficiency and sustainability of general practice in Ripon, which can only be a good thing for the health services in the area.

At Dr Akester and Partners we work with these practices as neighbours, and fellow members of the Ripon and Masham Primary Care Network. We were involved in the initial meetings about merging the practices, but after careful deliberation we decided that because of the very different nature and geography of the rural communities we serve around Masham and Kirkby Malzeard, it would make more sense for us to remain independent.

However we have enjoyed close and strong working relationships with the Ripon practices for many years, and we are looking forward to continuing to work with the new organisation in future.
